Youth News, 8/16

Promotion Sunday: This Sunday morning (8/19), we'll be celebrating Promotion Sunday in the sanctuary starting at 9:15am.  All youth Sunday School classes will start off in the sanctuary before moving to their classrooms.  Please plan to be in attendance.  Rising 7th and 8th graders will join rising 9th graders in the Jr. High class (lead by Tim Ristau and Trish Harlan), and rising 10th graders will be promoted to the Sr. High class, which meets in the youth room.  Please plan to be in attendance promptly at 9:15am in the sanctuary.

UMYF This Sunday! All 7th – 12th graders are encouraged to come to MYF on Sunday (8/19) from 6-8pm in the CLLC. We’ll have dinner, play MORE new games, and do some praying about the upcoming school year. Come for fun, food, and to get centered and focused before school starts!

Kayaking Adventure: Next Sunday (8/26), we will be participating in the Hibben Family Paddle from noon – 5:30pm. There will not be a UMYF meeting from 6-8pm. If you’re interested in joining in the kayaking fun, contact Elizabeth at econnell@hibbenumc.org. Cost is $28 per person and includes rental equipment, a guide, and tons of fun.  Parents and siblings are invited, too!  A deposit of $14 is due by Thursday, August 23.

Meals Needed:  Thanks to those of you who have signed up to provide dinner at an upcoming UMYF meeting.  There are still a couple of open dates, including September 23, October 7, October 14, and October 21.  Please e-mail Elizabeth at econnell@hibbenumc.org if you're able to provide a meal for 20 people at 6pm on one of these dates.

Calendar note:  There will be no UMYF on Sunday, September 2.  Happy Labor Day!

Rally in the Park:  We're headed to James Island County Park on Saturday, September 29 from noon - 6pm to spend the day outside with youth from United Methodist churches across Charleston.  Cost per person is $5 and includes a day at the park, dinner, and special worship time.  Sign-up with Elizabeth today to reserve your space!
