Upcoming Schedule:  UMYF will not meet this Sunday (2/6).  Have fun watching the Super Bowl with friends and family!  Also, there will be no UMYF next week (2/13) due to the Revolution trip.  See you on Feb. 20!

 

Whitewater Rafting!  You asked for it, and now it's time to sign-up!  We'll be rafting the Nantahala and Pigeon Rivers during Memorial Day weekend (5/27 - 5/30).  Further details about the trip can be found in the post below.  Don't miss this trip!  

 

Summer Trips: Check out the bulletin board outside the copy room or see the post below for an overview of our summer calendar.  Deposits for all trips are due by March 1.  Don't miss these great opportunities!

 

Hibben Talent Show:  Help support the scholarship fund that gives assistance to many of Hibben's high school seniors by planning a talent in this year's talent show.  It's on March 12 - plenty of time to get your act together.  Those of you who attended the 2009 show know how much fun it is!  Get creative!  

Summer Trips! - Including Whitewater Rafting!

If you weren't able to attend last week's Summer Preview Meeting during UMYF, see below for details on our summer trip schedule.  Please note that all deposits are due by March 1, and that no spaces can be held without a deposit.

Whitewater Rafting:  May 27 - May 30 (Memorial Day weekend); ages 12 and older; $215 per person.  This is the ultimate summer kick-off!  We'll leave Hibben on Friday after school and head to Lake Junaluska, where we'll be staying during our trip.  Two days of rafting on the Nantahala and Pigeon Rivers, 3-nights accommodation, 7 meals, and transportation are included in the trip cost.  A $75 deposit is due by March 1.  10 or more people must sign-up in order to make this trip possible.  

Salkehatchie:  For all youth ages 14 and older.  We'll be sending groups to three camps this summer:  June 11 - 18 in Spartanburg; July 9 - 16 in Lexington; and July 23 - 30 (location TBD).  Cost per person is $225 and includes registration fee, gas, and meals.  If you would like to go to Salkehatchie during a different week, please visit www.salkehatchie.org for a full list of camps offered.  A deposit of $115 is due by March 1. 

Wilderness Trail:  July 28 - August 4.  This hiking and backpacking ministry is open to those 12 years and older.  You will be backpacking, carrying everything you need in a pack.  We'll set up a different camp each night and then hiking to a new camp each day.  No previous backpacking experience is required for this trip!  Visit www.wtrail.com for more information.  Cost per person is $270; a $135 deposit is due by March 1. 

Epworth by the Sea:  June 22 - 27; 6th - 8th graders; $350 per person.  Mission outreach during this amazing week includes oyster bed renourishment, light construction, painting, visits to nursing homes, serving meals to those in need, etc.  A $50 deposit is due by March 1.
