Thank You

Thanks to all of you for the special gift that was presented to me at MYF on Sunday Night. The donkey given in my name through World Vision to a family in need is humbling and so special. Through this true spirit of giving and generosity, you've shown God's love and compassion - not just to the family who will be helped by this gift - but also to me.

I pray each of you have a meaningful Christmas, spending time with family and friends, rejoicing for the many blessings we all enjoy, and reflecting on the magnificent gift of Jesus Christ.

Christmas Party Re-cap

The last UMYF meeting of the year was one to remember! Our Christmas Party included tons of games - here's a look at the supply table before the madness began:

And FIREBALLS! By the end of the night, everyone took home a bucket of their own.

The ever popular and much-anticipated "Bologna Snowflake" game was a hit - especially for those who managed not to be grossed out by the bologna. Katie Wamsley took home first prize with her tribute to the Jersey Shore. Don't ask...

We interrupt this recap for some pictures by Julia and Lauren. (Camera stealers.)

Next up, Water Harp Christmas Caroling. Each group performed magnificently. Jingle Bells never sounded so good.

Thanks to everyone who came, and to Sharon, David, Bill, Linda, and Jennifer Roberts for helping clean-up!

Sharing Christmas

This weekend gives us two great opportunities to share Christmas!

Saturday, December 19: We've been invited to join the Revelation Sunday School class's annual Christmas Caroling outing! Imagine the joy that we'll bring to Hibben's elderly shut-in members who might otherwise spend the holidays feeling forgotten and alone. Even if you don't consider yourself an expert singer, this event is about much more than songs! We'll meet in the front parking lot at 1:30 on Saturday and will finish around 4:00. Make it a family affair - all youth and their families are invited.

Sunday, December 20 UMYF: We'll share Christmas with one another from 6 - 8pm in the CLLC at our CHRISTMAS PARTY! If you've never made a bologna snowflake, you simply must attend. We'll have food, tons of games with prizes, and prepare ourselves to celebrate Christ's birth.

Please note: We will not have UMYF on Sunday night, December 27. Normal activities will resume on January 3.

Revolution 2010: It's the first big event of 2010 and you won't want to miss it! We're headed to Columbia, January 22 - 24 to attend the state-wide UMYF conference. Charge your batteries for the year ahead, connect with old friends (from Salkehatchie!), and meet new ones at this amazing weekend of music, speakers, and off-the-wall activities. More details will follow after Christmas, so mark your calendar and stay tuned!

UMYF News, 12/10

Brrrrr! Hope you guys are enjoying the chilly weather! Check out the Christmas events below and get ready to celebrate the season!

UMYF Sunday (12/13): What's Christmas without a good, old fashioned PARADE!?!?! We'll meet on the front lawn at 4:30 pm for pizza and games, and then stick around for the MAIN EVENT - the Mt. Pleasant Christmas Parade. Afterwards, we'll enjoy cookies and hot chocolate in the CLLC with our Hibben family. See you there!

Christmas Caroling (12/19): We're lucky to be able to get out and about and enjoy the Christmas season, but not all Hibben members are so lucky. The solution? We're bringing Christmas to THEM! Meet in the front parking lot on Saturday, December 19 at 1:30 for an afternoon of caroling to Hibben's shut-in members. This is such a special Hibben tradition and an amazing ministry and service to others. We'll return around 4:00 pm.

UMYF News, 12/2

Happy December! We've got a full Sunday of activities this week and I hope to see you at them all!

Kids' Day Out: No, you're not the kids, but we do need your help! This event is being used as a fundraiser for the Belize Mission Trip and gives parents the opportunity to leave their children at Hibben while they get ready for the holidays. From 12 - 5 in the CLLC, we'll be doing crafts, playing games, watching movies, and having FUN! Please plan to help for all (or part) of the day and give back to a church that's so supportive of us!

Youth Council Team Meetings: If you're on a Youth Council Team or you'd like to be, come to the CLLC at 5:00pm and help us do some important planning for the winter. Items we'll be discussing include the Ski Trip, Silent Auction, prep for the Ministry Fair, Revolution Convention and more!

UMYF SUNDAY: Read 1 Corinthians 15:58 and get ready to STAND FIRM! It can be a challenge to stand firm in your faith when life comes calling, so that's what we'll be talking about (AND DOING) from 6 - 8pm. Are you ready?
