UMYF News, 1/19

Hi everyone!  We had a fabulous (and safe!) time on the ski trip last weekend.  Check out the pictures in the post below for action from the first 2 days.  More coming soon.  Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend!

Now, for some BREAKING NEWS and important announcements:

UMYF this Sunday (1/22): Put on your creative thinking caps and come ready to participate in your choice of several service projects from 6-8pm in the CLLC!  Help make gifts for a child in Haiti, or help design a Salkehatchie display board for next Sunday's missions fair...plus food and games.  See you tonight!

Summer Preview Meeting: Mark your calendars for January 29 from 6 - 7:30pm.  Our weekly UMYF meeting will be transformed into our Summer Preview.  Bring your summer calendar and get ready to learn about Revolution, Rafting, Salkehatchie, Hiking, and more!  Parents and siblings are encouraged to attend.

Revolution:  It’s time to start registering for Revolution 2012!  If you’ve been before, you know that this is an awesome way to spend a weekend.  It’s an experience unlike any other – join youth from around the state for music, great speakers, dancing, laughter, and a priceless encounter with God.  This year, Revolution is March 16-18 at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia.  Cost per person is $145.00 and includes 2-nights hotel stay, event tickets, transportation, and 3 meals.  A deposit of $72.50 is due by February 19 to reserve your space.  Fundraising is available – don’t let ANYTHING stand in the way of this amazing weekend.  E-mail me with questions: econnell@hibbenumc.org or 884-9761.

Salkehatchie: If you’re a Salkehatchie veteran, you will be receiving 2012 registration forms in the mail in the near future.  This year, you’re on your own with registration.  Please complete the form and mail it, with your payment, directly to the state office (address listed on the form).  We will be sending groups to Spartanburg (June 16-23) and Lexington County (July 7-14), or you can choose any camp that works with your summer schedule.  Once you have chosen your camp and registered, please notify me via e-mail (econnell@hibbenumc.org) so I can add you to our transportation list.  We will be carpooling (or taking the church bus!) as in years past.  If you have never been to Salkehatchie before, have no idea what I'm talking about, or would like to attend this year, you may download a registration form by visiting www.salkehatchie.org.  All participants must be at least 14 years of age by the start date of camp.
