UMYF News, October 15

UMYF Sunday Night: ‘Tis the season for ghosts, goblins and...coffins? We know heaven is waiting on us, so should we look forward to dying? We’ll stage a debate and give you a chance to weigh in! Join us from 6 – 8pm.

Canned Food Drive: Swing by the grocery store this week and pick up some canned goods for the UMYF Canned Food Drive which starts this Sunday! Drop ‘em by the box in the Narthex. We’ll donate them to Crisis Ministries just in time for Thanksgiving.

Cupcake Baking: The Fall Festival needs our help! We’ll be baking 7 DOZEN cupcakes this Sunday. Bring some icing (and a muffin pan if you have one) and arrive Sunday at 4:30 in the CLLC to pitch in!

UMYF Ski Trip! We're headed to Winterplace, WV, Feb. 12 - 15 and we're taking sign-ups now! Cost per person is $275 and includes lodging, transportation, lift tickets and ski rentals. Fundraising opportunities are available. Sign-up by paying a $25 deposit by October 25. Contact Elizabeth for more info: eskogman@hibbenumc.org or 813-8700.

SAVE THE DATE! We’ll be devoting the month of November to learning about homelessness in our community, and there’s no better way to LEARN about being homeless than to BECOME homeless. On Friday, November 13, we’ll be hosting the “Cardboard Campout” on the front lawn of Hibben. Guest speakers will talk to us about homelessness in Charleston, and then we’ll spend the night outside in cardboard boxes. More details to follow soon, but mark your calendars NOW!

UMYF Meals: If you haven’t signed up to provide a meal for UMYF this fall, there are still a few open dates! Please contact Joye Wells if you’re able to help: jwells15@comcast.net
