Youth News, 2/14

Happy Valentines Day!  Check out these announcements below:

UMYF: Please note: due to Revolution, we will not have UMYF this Sunday (2/17). Make plans to join in next week (2/24) from 6-8pm!

30-hour Famine Fundraisers: A few weeks back at UMYF, we talked about planning two group fundraisers to support our 30-hour Famine event (which is scheduled for April 26-27). Now’s your chance to get involved!  Two fundraisers are being planned, and I’d like to ask each of you to sign up to help with at least one of them. Here are the details:
  •  #1. PANCAKE BREAKFAST: On Sunday, March 17 (St. Patty’s Day!), we will be hosting a pancake breakfast for the congregation. It will be held in the CLLC from 8:30-10:30 AM. By signing up, you are volunteering to arrive at 8:00 AM and to pitch in with set-up, food prep, food service, and clean up.
  • #2. PARENT’S NIGHT OUT: On Friday, March 15, we will be hosting a babysitting event for Hibben members, Preschool families, and anyone in the community who might like to attend. The event will be in the CLLC from 5:30 – 9:30 PM. By signing up, you are volunteering to arrive at 5:00 PM and stay until 10:00 PM. You’ll pitch in with greeting families, leading children in pre-planned age appropriate activities, serving dinner to the kids, set-up and clean-up. If you currently babysit for families outside the church, INVITE THEM TO COME!

Please let me know which of these you’d like to help with by emailing me at econnell@hibbenumc.org.  More details and specifics will be available as the events draw nearer.

SALKEHATCHIE 2013!  It's time to start thinking about summer plans, and that means it's time for SALKEHATCHIE!  The website (www.salkehatchie.org) has been updated with 2013 camp dates and the necessary application forms.  Hibben will once again plan to send a group to the Lexington camp, happening July 13-20.  You will notice that there are camps throughout the state, throughout the summer, so if another date or location piques your interest, feel free to strike out on your own.  Applications can be printed by clicking here:  http://www.salkehatchie.org/home/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Application-2013.pdf

Please plan to complete your application and mail it, with your payment, to the state office listed at the bottom of the form.  Then, notify Elizabeth via e-mail of the camp you plan to attend (econnell@hibbenumc.org).  FULL or PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE from Hibben.  Do NOT let money stand in the way of your experiencing this incredible, powerful, life-changing week.  Contact Elizabeth with questions!
