Youth News, 5/3

UMYF this Sunday: We'll kick off youth this Sunday with a pizza party, provided by the Galileans Sunday School class before trying out some NEW games (one of which involves bananas!) and we’ll learn a little something along the way (NOT about bananas).  All 7th - 12th graders are invited from 6-8pm in the CLLC.

May 13 UMYF Plan:  Spring is here!  We’re taking the show on the road for youth on May 13.  BRING YOUR OWN PICNIC DINNER (beverages will be provided) to enjoy at Mt. Pleasant’s Waterfront Park.  We’ll head out at 6pm SHARP in the church bus and enjoy some games, kite flying, and running around before returning to the church at 8pm.

CHANGE THE WORLD WEEKEND!  May 19 and 20 has been officially named “Change the World Weekend” by the United Methodist Church, and the youth of Hibben will be participating in a major way!
-    First, on Saturday, May 19, we’ll be joining the group of Hibben members headed to Winwood Farm to lend a helping hand around the property.  The plan is to meet at Winwood Farm at 8:30am for a full day of work.  Lunch will be provided, so you’ll need to RSVP to me if you plan to attend.  This will be a great chance to get some fresh air, work beside your church family, and Change the World!
-     Then, on Sunday, May 20 at UMYF (6-8pm), we’ll have dinner before hitting the road for a “Destination Unknown” Change the World project.  If you are able, please bring $4.00 to help prove the theory that it doesn’t take a ton of money to Change the World.

Class of 2012: If you or a loved one will be graduating from high school OR COLLEGE this year, please notify Elizabeth so we can be sure to recognize you on Graduation Sunday, May 13.  Call 884-9761 or e-mail econnell@hibbenumc.org.

Vacation Bible School Volunteering!  This year, VBS will be June 10 – 13, and we need volunteers.  Youth – clear your schedules and lend a helping hand with Hibben’s youngest members.  Parents, your help is needed too!  Sessions will be in the evening on 6/10, and from 9am – noon 6/11 – 6/13.  More details coming soon!
