UMYF News, 2/16

UMYF Sunday (2/19):  This Sunday from 6-8pm in the CLLC, we'll talk more about what it means to have faith in the real world.  It's not always as easy as it seems, is it?  Special guest Bill Dorfner will share with us how he keeps his faith while serving on the Mt. Pleasant police force.  Don't miss this night!

Revolution 2012: THIS SUNDAY (2/19) is the deadline to register for Revolution in Columbia, March 16 -18.  Saturday free time plans have been confirmed, and this is one afternoon you won’t want to miss.  We’re headed to AIR FUN in Columbia with 3 other youth groups to enjoy THREE HOURS of bull riding, rock wall, jousting, adult inflatable slides and bouncy house, obstacle course, etc.  IT IS GOING TO BE A TOTAL BLAST!!!  To register, complete a registration form (check the bulletin board beside the copy room) and pay a deposit of $72.50.  FUNDRAISING is available – don’t let money stand in your way!

Dinner needed Sunday!  Parents, we are in need of dinner for UMYF on Sunday (2/19).  If you’re able to pitch in to provide a meal for 20 folks at 6pm, please e-mail me at econnell@hibbenumc.org.  Dinner is also needed on February 26, March 4, and March 11.

Help Needed!: Ever feel like it’s tough to find a place to use your gifts and talents in the church?  Well fear not!  There are two great opportunities coming up that give you the chance to serve your church family and have an impact.  If you like kids and wouldn’t mind giving some parents a much needed break, you can volunteer at the upcoming Family Spaghetti Dinner, sponsored by Family Ministries.  It’s on Friday, February 24.  If you’re interested, let me know!  If kids aren’t your thing, but being friendly is, then consider helping out at the Belize Silent Auction on March 10 from 5-9pm.  Volunteers are needed to serve food, help people at the auction, and generally be friendly.  If you’re busy on the 10th, then come on the 9th after school and help with the auction set-up.  Who says you can’t be a missionary to Belize by helping out here at home?!?!  Let me know if you’d like more info about either opportunity.
